About This Package

Chandragiri Hills hold a special place in Nepal’s history, particularly in the context of the country’s unification. It was from these very hills that King Prithvi Narayan Shah first caught a glimpse of the fertile and prosperous Kathmandu Valley. The breathtaking view is said to have inspired his ambition to annex the valley and make it a part of his growing kingdom.

According to local folklore, the king undertook a period of intense sadhana (spiritual meditation) in these hills, believed to have endowed him with the spiritual strength necessary for his unification campaign. To avoid detection by the ruling Malla kings of the valley, Prithvi Narayan Shah disguised himself as he ascended Chandragiri, blending in to maintain secrecy.
